The Ocean Guardian School program is a grant program is coordinated by NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries with funding supported by the Georgia Aquarium. This program supports Pre-K–12 schools who make a commitment to the protection and conservation of its local watersheds, the world’s ocean, and special ocean areas, like national marine sanctuaries. Schools are awarded small grants to carry out their own school or community-based conservation projects that make a difference in the health and protection of their local watersheds and the world’s ocean. At the conclusion of the school year, upon approval, participating schools will become an Ocean Guardian school and receive a commemorative banner.
The NOAA Ocean Guardian School Program and Georgia Aquarium have agreed to jointly support environmental stewardship projects at 2024 – 2025 school year in the Atlanta and Savannah regions.
Applications are currently closed for the 2024 – 2025 school year. If you are interested in applying for the 2025 – 2026 school year, applications may be available for download in April 2025.
