Dive into Ocean Adventures Virtually from your Classroom

Bring the wonders of the ocean directly to your classroom virtually with our engaging and interactive online outreach program. Our expert educators will guide you through a live digital dive into the marine world, featuring interactive presentations, live animal encounters, and hands-on activities that can be done from home.

Students will embark on a virtual journey through diverse aquatic ecosystems, learning about marine biology, conservation challenges, and the critical importance of ocean preservation. This immersive online experience is designed to spark curiosity, enhance understanding, and inspire the next generation of marine enthusiasts and environmental stewards, all from the safety and convenience of your own school or home.

  • Grade K-2

    Turtle Talks

    Did you know that a turtle lives in water, and a tortoise lives on land? Each species has a unique diet and characteristics that allow them to survive in these habitats. Students will describe the differences between turtles and tortoises by observing shells and skulls, and brainstorm ways to keep the environment clean and safe for these amazing animals.

    Under the Sea

    Take a dive under the sea to explore the five zones of our ocean! Each zone creates a diverse habitat based on the amount of sunlight it receives, and animals have been able to find ways to survive in these unique conditions. In this program, students will identify the five zones of the ocean and discover the incredible animals and plants found in each one.

  • Grade 3-5

    Georgia Waters

    Geography plays an important role in watershed locations and how water flows through them. In Georgia, water travels down the Blue Ridge Mountains all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, causing weathering and erosion to occur along the way. Join us as we explore the different regions of Georgia and discover native flora and fauna in each geographical region.

    Disturbing Dynamics

    Native species are vital to our maintaining local environments, but what happens when invasive species are introduced? Food webs can be altered, local flora and fauna can become extinct or new species could thrive. Students will identify the different effects that native and invasive species can have on an environment, as well as observe how energy moves through an ecosystem.

  • Grade 6-8

    Evolving Ecosystems

    From rivers and lakes to coral reefs and deep sea, aquatic ecosystems are flourishing with a variety of flora and fauna. Each one has characteristics that make it unique and distinguishable from other ecosystems. Discover the different types of aquatic ecosystems in this fun, engaging lesson where students explore food chains and human impacts in their pursuit to compare these important places on Earth.

    Benthic Basics

    Have you ever wondered how we discovered the unique features of our ocean floor? Or how certain animals can withstand the unique conditions of the deep sea? To aid in the exploration of the ocean, scientists make maps of the seafloor and have discovered animals called benthic organisms that make the seafloor their home, regardless of depth. Explore the depths of ocean topography while investigating how benthic animals are adapted to life in the extremes.

  • Grade 9-12

    Invaders Among Us

    There are invaders among our ecosystems! Not all plants and animals in an ecosystem are meant to be where they are; some are considered invasive species. These invasive species can negatively impact and alter an ecosystem, upsetting the balance. As we work to identify invasive species and compare them to the native species in different ecosystems, we’ll also explore the adaptations and events that enable them to invade so easily.

    Ocean pHenomenon

    One of the biggest threats facing the ocean is climate change, which is a leading cause of ocean acidification. This threat is harming many features of our ocean, from shells to corals and even plankton and fish. As we explore how acids and bases interact, we’ll break down the chemical reaction for ocean acidification and uncover the impact it has on our oceanic ecosystems.
