Featured Speaker

Dr. Bridget Buxton

New Zealander Bridget Buxton came to the USA to complete a Ph.D. in Ancient History and Archaeology at UC Berkeley as a Fulbright and Regents Humanities Scholar. She is currently a Professor of Ancient History and Underwater Archaeology and certified AAUS scientific diver at the University of Rhode Island. Her archaeological research ranges across civilizations and oceans, and her underwater discoveries have featured in numerous documentaries and magazine publications as well as scientific journals. Bridget has been a flag-carrier of the International Society of Women Geographers; she is the 11th woman to have dived to the wreck of RMS Titanic, and three-time recipient of the Archaeological Institute of America’s prestigious McCann-Taggart endowed lectureship in underwater archaeology. Bridget approaches history as a storyteller and loves to share her unique inside knowledge of the treasures of the underwater world.

Event Essentials

  • Advance registration is required; tickets will not be sold at the door.
  • Doors open at 6:00 PM; program begins promptly at 6:30 PM.
  • Late seating may not be available – please arrive before 6:30 PM.
  • Program ends around 7:30 PM; doors close at 8:00 PM.
  • All guests must be 21+ to attend the event; a valid ID is required for entry.

Parking Information

  • Complimentary parking is available in our attached covered parking garage – please bring your parking ticket inside for validation.
  • Use the following street address for a direct route to Georgia Aquarium’s parking garage: 357 Luckie Street, NW Atlanta, GA 30313.
  • Guests parking at the Coca-Cola parking deck will be charged a full parking fee.
