Dr. Jamie L. Wilson, Jr., Chief People Officer
Dr. Jamie L. Wilson, Jr., Chief People Officer at the Georgia Aquarium, is a top-performing, C-Suite Human Resource Executive with over 30 years of exemplary experience and leadership in both private and public sector organizations to include business, education, medical, and retail. Working alongside other HR professionals at the Georgia Aquarium, Dr. Wilson will lead strategic HR initiatives that align with and strengthen the Aquarium’s vision of creating the world’s most engaging aquarium experience by employing a well-skilled, highly motivated, and effective workforce.
Over his career, Dr. Wilson has held several positions increasing in scope and responsibility. Some of those positions include human resources consultant and strategist, substitute teacher, paraprofessional, teacher, assistant principal, principal, human resources administrator, human resources director, human resources executive director, and chief human resources officer. In the role of Chief Human Resources Officer, he led all human resources efforts for organizations ranging in size from 7,500 employees up to 16,000 employees. Additionally, he has many years of teaching leadership and human resources courses at the collegiate level.
In addition to collegiate achievements, Dr. Wilson is also an alumnus of Leadership DeKalb and the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education. Additionally, he holds certification from the AASA Urban Superintendents Academy at Howard University. Dr. Wilson further utilizes his expertise by serving on several boards and community organizations in roles such as Chair of Education and Human Resources Committees, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Coalition Bowl, Board Member for C5 Georgia, Board Member for several Advisory Boards for local colleges and universities.
Dr. Wilson received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Administration and Management from Georgia State University; a Master of Education in Leadership and Supervision from the State University of West Georgia; an Educational Specialist in Leadership and Supervision from Jacksonville State University; and lastly, a Doctorate in Leadership and Supervision from the University of Sarasota.
A native Georgian, he enjoys reading, learning new technology, traveling, and spending time with his wife, two children, family, and friends.
