Our Mission Statement
Georgia Aquarium’s Education Programs department is dedicated to educating audiences of various ages while promoting an entertaining learning experience that inspires our guests to appreciate the world’s aquatic biodiversity and promote conservation action.
The educational experience at the Georgia Aquarium is an innovative approach to the traditional field trip. Each of our education programs includes The Learning Loop, the second floor of the Aquarium, which is dedicated to teachers and students and the main floor of the aquarium. The experience on The Learning Loop is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students and teachers. Students not only view the animals in their exhibits, but discover the world behind the scenes: husbandry staff attending to the animals, filtration systems and exhibit maintenance.
The Learning Loop has several themed galleries and learning labs designed to give students a truly in-depth experience relating to the aquatic realm. On The Learning Loop we are able to provide focused learning opportunities where students immerse themselves in the mysteries of the aquatic realm. Students become engaged on The Learning Loop through interactive games and exhibits which give them a greater understanding of the importance of aquatic ecosystems. We have carefully designed educational programs to enhance your classroom instruction and meet the Georgia Performance Standards for students grades K - 12. Our environmental educators are trained to engage your students while encouraging curiosity that goes beyond the classroom. You and your students will be guided throughout your entire journey on The Learning Loop. We aim to provide your students with a memorable experience inspiring future environmental stewards.
