The Georgia Aquarium’s education department is dedicated to educating audiences of various ages while promoting an entertaining learning experience that inspires our guests to appreciate the world’s aquatic biodiversity and promote conservation action.
The educational experience is an opportunity for students to discover the aquatic realm in an immersive learning environment. Each education program includes several behind-the-scenes experiences as well as portions of the main Aquarium for you and your students to enjoy.
We have carefully designed educational programs to enhance your classroom instruction. Your experience at the Aquarium begins at the curb as buses are greeted by Aquarium staff. An Aquarium staff member will welcome the group, meet the contact person, confirm group size and escort each group in to the building. An environmental educator will remain with each group throughout their entire Aquarium experience.
The aim of the Georgia Aquarium Education Department is to make the education experience an extension of the classroom. We have written objectives that are aligned with the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) at each grade level.
Through a partnership with the University of West Georgia’s Evaluation Center, we will assess and evaluate our education programs. Our goal is to provide you, the education community, with evidence that our programs are effective extensions of the classroom in reinforcing the Georgia Performance Standards.
This is not just a field trip, it is an educational experience!
