Georgia Aquarium Helps to Save Fulton County Field Trips
Your Prompt Support is Requested
Atlanta, GA (September 23, 2008) –
Due to rising transportation costs, Fulton County has suspended all scheduled field trips for the 2008-2009 academic year. This includes the 13,000 Fulton County students that have been extended the opportunity to visit the Aquarium through Sponsored Education Admissions funding.
Through the Aquarium's Sponsored Education Admissions (SEA) Program, students that would otherwise not be able to visit the Aquarium are afforded the opportunity to learn about conserving aquatic biodiversity throughout the world by visiting the Aquarium through free admission. Through your generous support, Georgia Aquarium was able to subsidize $143,000 in field trip costs this for Fulton County alone. However, due to transportation costs, Fulton County students will not be able to participate in our free program.
Now, we need to raise $65,000, or $5 per student, to ensure these students are afforded the opportunity to participate in our SEA Program by subsidizing transportation costs. Contributions of any size will make an impact and will let our Legislators know that Georgia Aquarium and our supporters are committed to educating our youth.
The Aquarium has set a goal of raising all $65,000 by October 15, 2008. To make a tax-free gift today, please contact Stephanie Brown at 404-581-4136 or sbrown@georgiaaquarium.org. All gifts will be recognized in the Aquarium's Annual Report and a tax letter will be provided. Thank you for your continued support and immediate attention.
