The fun isn't just for your students!

You and your students can immerse yourselves in learning while acquiring valuable content knowledge through hands-on learning experiences. Our professional development opportunities are designed for you to explore a wide range of topics related to the unique aquatic ecosystems found around the world.

Workshops:

Rivers to Reefs - application process now closed!

Explore, investigate, observe, monitor, reflect and walk away equipped with new ideas on how to integrate your own field experiences into your classrooms. From the headwaters of the Ocmulgee River, through the diverse waters of Georgia and eventually to Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary, this free week-long experiential adventure will immerse you into the world of water. You will gain hands-on experience about watersheds, water quality, current aquatic issues and a variety of aquatic ecosystems. Georgia Aquarium, Gordon State College and Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary and Foundation are very excited to lead a selected group of 16 educators on a week long inquiry-driven teacher workshop. Cost: FREE! Funding for this workshop is being graciously provided by Improving Teacher Quality Higher Education Grant (80%), Georgia Aquarium, Grays Reef National Marine Sanctuary and Gordon College.

  • Please note: this workshop is only available to Georgia teachers with a current teaching placement (ITQHE requirement).
  • There are two required parts to the application (see below). Your application is only complete once both pieces of the application have been submitted.
  • We will accept applications until April 14th or until the workshop is full. Please keep an eye on your email for updates on your application status from Georgia Aquarium. Selected participants will be notified on or around May 1st. Sometimes our emails accidentally get redirected into the spam folder, so check all of your mailboxes!
